HeadRoom Micro Amp

Aaah, that's exactly what our Micro Amp is like: Clean, clear, crisp and a perfect audiophile-quality vehicle for the music and for your audio headspace.

How it Works

This little portable amp uses specialized versions of our custom-designed electronics modules which are optimized for either maximum battery life OR for maximized sound quality at the expense of some battery life. The Micro series also comes complete with AC power supplies so you can plug 'em right into the wall when you're not on the fly! Pair up a Micro amp up with your portable player and a high-quality headphone and prepare to be sonically swept away.... But wait, that's not even the whole story! Partner the Micro Amp with its equally small, look-alike companion component, the Micro DAC, and you've got sound like you've never heard before coming directly from your digital and/or USB source. Heck, the Micro amp can even pull double-duty at home with your big stereo rig by acting as a highly upgraded headphone jack for your system.....We might be a bit biased but, man, we just love the Micro! -- It's truly a HeadRoom "sweet spot" of stunning audio performance at a reasonable price.

The Micro amp will have about TWICE the power rating compared to the "Mobile" (Total AirHead/ Total BitHead) amp line and will effortlessly drive even 300-ohm, high-impedance headphones. The 3-position gain switch on the front panel helps to perfectly match the Micro's operation to the impedance of any set of headphones or ear canal headphones. For true audiophile-grade performance, the Micro amp also offers a significantly reduced noise floor and an improved dynamic range when compared to the "Mobile" line amps. The sonic detail resolution of the Micro amp when used with any portable player is truly something to hear!

The Micro Amp is just a bit larger than a big deck of playing cards and can be powered for around 15-18 hours with the standard "micro" electronics module from the two 9-volt batteries carried inside.

Electronics Module Options

The upgraded "desktop" electronics module is an available option with the Micro amp [at no extra charge!!] and very nicely improves the sound quality at the expense of a significantly shorter battery life. Build

The Micro amp casing is a custom-manufactured heavy aluminum extrusion and all markings are laser-etched into the jet black anodized finish --- in other words, you could run over this baby with a car and it wouldn't even chip the paint [umm, not recommended! -ed.]. The urethane bezel (that rubber thingy around the front & rear panels) has a foot sweep that fits into the groove in the top of the bezel allowing all HeadRoom Micro products to stack conveniently and securely.

Accessories

As mentioned earlier, an external AC power-supply "wall-wart" also comes included with the Micro Amp.

However, The Micro Amp does not include any interconnect cabling. To hook up your Micro Amp to a portable audio player, you will need a mini 1/8 to 1/8 cable. We recommend the Cardas 6 inch or 12 inch mini to mini cables. For longer runs, we suggest the Cardas 1 meter or 2 meter versions. If you are using a source with an RCA output, this portable cable will work, or browse all of our cables.

Measurements:

The Micro Amp is 1.5" (3.8cm) high, 3.5" (9 cm) wide, and 4.5"(11.5cm)long. It weighs only 7.2oz (224 grams) without batteries, 9.4 oz (298g) with two 9-volt batteries inside.
